Prime
Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Micron Technology’s Semiconductor
Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) facility in Sanand, Gujarat,
describing the development as a significant milestone for India’s semiconductor
ambitions.
The
facility represents a major investment in India’s electronics manufacturing
ecosystem and is expected to strengthen the country’s position in the global
semiconductor value chain. The Sanand plant will focus on assembly, testing,
marking and packaging of semiconductor products, supporting both domestic
demand and export markets.

The
inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials, industry
representatives and executives from Micron Technology. The project forms part
of India’s broader strategy to boost semiconductor manufacturing under its push
for self-reliance in critical technologies and to position the country as a
global hub for electronics production.
The
Sanand facility is expected to generate employment opportunities and contribute
to the development of a skilled workforce in advanced manufacturing, further
reinforcing India’s growing role in the global technology supply chain.
