Ethiopian Standards Institute visits AI Institute

Officials
from the Ethiopian Standards Institute has paid a working visit to the
Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute to explore opportunities for
collaboration and gain insight into the country’s growing AI capabilities.
During
the visit, the Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence
Institute, Mr. Teghsu Desalegn, briefed the delegation on the institute’s
ongoing activities. He explained that the institute is developing and deploying
artificial intelligence technologies designed to address challenges across
multiple sectors, with practical solutions already being implemented in various
fields.
Speaking
after the visit, the Director General of the Ethiopian Standards Institute, Dr.
Base Bekele, said the delegation witnessed extensive efforts by the AI
institute to ensure Ethiopia benefits from advancements in artificial
intelligence technology. He noted that the visit provided valuable insight into
how AI-driven systems are being developed and applied to support national
development priorities.
Both
institutions indicated that the engagement has opened the door for closer
cooperation, including exploring how artificial intelligence can support
standards development processes and enhance institutional operations through
digital transformation.
