Information Network Security Administration (INSA) has launched a Cyber Club at Arba Minch University as part of efforts to strengthen cybersecurity awareness and develop digital security talent among students.

The initiative was established in collaboration with the university and officially unveiled during a launch event attended by university leadership, students and representatives of INSA. Speakers at the event highlighted the critical role higher education institutions play in building national cybersecurity capacity and supporting broader digital transformation goals.

Officials noted that as Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy continues to guide the country’s digital development agenda, strengthening cybersecurity culture and expanding the pool of skilled professionals has become increasingly important.

According to INSA, the Cyber Club will serve as a practical platform for students to develop cybersecurity knowledge, enhance technical skills and promote innovation in digital security. The club is also expected to encourage collaboration among students interested in cybersecurity while contributing to the protection and resilience of Ethiopia’s growing digital ecosystem.

University officials welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step toward empowering students with the expertise required to address emerging cyber threats and support the country’s evolving digital infrastructure.
