MWC26: Rwanda explores future of mobile money infrastructure at MWC 2026

Rwanda’s
delegation, through RSwitch, has engaged with Ericsson at the Mobile World
Congress Barcelona 2026 to discuss the development of mobile money
infrastructure and interoperable digital payment systems across Africa.
RSwitch,
Rwanda’s national switch operator, is advancing the country’s financial
ecosystem by building a secure, scalable, and interoperable backbone for
digital transactions. The initiative supports the eKash platform and aims to
accelerate Rwanda’s transition toward a cashless and inclusive digital economy.
Officials
emphasized that the country is actively implementing solutions to modernize
payments infrastructure, strengthen financial inclusion, and provide reliable
digital services to citizens and businesses alike. Rwanda’s engagement at MWC
2026 signals its commitment to shaping the future of financial technology on
the continent.
