The
ITU Regional Office for Africa has held discussions with Charles Kamoto,
Managing Director of Airtel Tanzania, to advance efforts aimed at achieving
universal and meaningful connectivity in Tanzania.
The
meeting focused on strategies to bridge digital divides through the expansion
of resilient telecommunications infrastructure and the adoption of innovative
technologies to improve service delivery.
Key
areas of discussion included the use of Cell Broadcast Systems for early
warning services, which are expected to enhance disaster preparedness and
response capabilities. The parties also explored opportunities to leverage the
ITU Academy as a platform for building digital skills and empowering connected
schools across the country.
The
engagement reflects ongoing collaboration between international organizations
and private sector players to strengthen digital ecosystems, improve access to
connectivity, and support inclusive socio-economic development in Tanzania.
