The ITU Regional Office for Africa has held discussions with Charles Kamoto, Managing Director of Airtel Tanzania, to advance efforts aimed at achieving universal and meaningful connectivity in Tanzania.

The meeting focused on strategies to bridge digital divides through the expansion of resilient telecommunications infrastructure and the adoption of innovative technologies to improve service delivery.

Key areas of discussion included the use of Cell Broadcast Systems for early warning services, which are expected to enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities. The parties also explored opportunities to leverage the ITU Academy as a platform for building digital skills and empowering connected schools across the country.

The engagement reflects ongoing collaboration between international organizations and private sector players to strengthen digital ecosystems, improve access to connectivity, and support inclusive socio-economic development in Tanzania.
