The
Director General of the Regional African Satellite Communications Organisation
(RASCOM), Timothy Ashong, has paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), H.E Wamkele Mene, at the
AfCFTA Secretariat in Accra.
During
the meeting, both parties discussed opportunities for collaboration between
RASCOM and the AfCFTA Secretariat, focusing on advancing Africa’s digital
connectivity, trade integration, and data sovereignty.
Ashong
described the exchange as productive and forward-looking, emphasizing the
strong potential for partnership in leveraging satellite and digital
technologies to support continental development objectives.
Ashong
also expressed gratitude to the AfCFTA Secretariat for the warm reception and
hospitality extended during the visit.
The
engagement underscores both institutions’ commitment to building a robust
collaboration framework aimed at strengthening Africa’s digital and space
infrastructure while supporting the goals of the AfCFTA.
