The
Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Space Agency, Gaspard Twagirayezu, is
participating in high-level discussions with NASA on the future of space
exploration and opportunities for strengthening collaboration in space
innovation.
The
engagement, hosted at NASA, brings together stakeholders to explore
advancements in space science and deepen partnerships that can drive
technological development and capacity building. Twagirayezu’s participation
underscores Rwanda’s growing interest in expanding its role within the global
space ecosystem.

Discussions
have also highlighted NASA’s preparations for a historic return mission to the
Moon, a development expected to mark a significant milestone in space
exploration and open new avenues for international cooperation.
Rwanda’s
involvement in these engagements reflects broader efforts across Africa to
leverage space technologies for development, including applications in Earth
observation, climate monitoring, and digital connectivity.

Officials
say continued collaboration between African space institutions and global
partners will be critical in advancing innovation and ensuring that emerging
space opportunities translate into tangible benefits for economies and
societies.
