The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda has concluded a cybersecurity and legal awareness training mission across the eastern cities of Jinja, Mbale, and Tororo, aimed at strengthening compliance and digital safety across public and private institutions.

The initiative, led by the Authority’s Regulation and Compliance team, focused on sensitizing key government institutions, including High Courts, local governments, and correctional facilities, on cyber laws and best practices in cybersecurity.

As part of the programme, compliance assessments and IT certification processes were conducted for private service providers to ensure adherence to national standards and regulatory requirements.

The mission also included academic and legal engagement sessions at the Law Development Centre in Mbale, where participants were trained on artificial intelligence ethics, digital footprint management, and the legal implications of computer misuse.

Officials noted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to build a secure, informed, and compliant digital ecosystem as Uganda accelerates its digital transformation agenda.
