The
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has called for
stronger collaboration between government institutions and emerging startups to
accelerate innovation and national development.
This
position was highlighted during Nigeria Satellite Week 2026, organised by
NigComSat under the theme “Harnessing Space Technology for an Extraordinary
Nigeria.”

Representing
the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the agency’s Director
of Stakeholders Management and Partnership, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, delivered a
keynote address focused on enhancing collaboration between government agencies
and emerging startups.
Dr.
Onumo described synergy between public institutions and startups as the “secret
sauce” for building a thriving technology ecosystem, noting that effective
partnerships can transform local ideas into globally competitive solutions.

He
reiterated NITDA’s commitment to fostering innovation through key initiatives
such as the Nigeria Startup Act and the IdeaHatch programme, which are designed
to support entrepreneurs and strengthen the country’s digital economy.
According
to him, sustained collaboration will be critical to improving connectivity,
driving economic growth, and advancing Nigeria’s broader national development
agenda.
