Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information Communications and the Digital Economy Kenya, William Kabogo Gitau has launched the opening session of the Thailand–Kenya Business Matching and Digital Partnership 2026, marking a step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the digital economy.

The event, held at the Trademark Hotel Nairobi, brought together a delegation from Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion Thailand alongside 14 Thai ICT firms and more than 50 Kenyan technology companies for strategic matchmaking and partnership discussions.

The engagement, supported by Kenya’s State Departments for ICT and Trade as well as the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Kenya, focused on building resilient and globally competitive digital ecosystems through cross-border collaboration.

On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral discussions explored cooperation in ICT development, particularly at the local level, as well as opportunities in trade and investment, tourism, the creative economy and agriculture. Talks also addressed expanding market access for Kenyan exports, including avocados, macadamia and fresh flowers.

Both sides emphasized the importance of reactivating the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation to strengthen institutional ties and align future engagements ahead of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kenya and Thailand in 2027.

The initiative reinforces Kenya’s positioning as a regional hub for digital innovation and highlights growing international interest in partnerships that support economic growth through technology and trade.
