Botswana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Botswana Special
Economic Zones Authority to formalize a strategic partnership aimed at
supporting the development of smart and connected Special Economic Zones in the
country.
The
agreement, signed at Orange Botswana’s head office, establishes a framework for
collaboration across key areas including technical support, branding, joint
marketing, innovation and corporate social responsibility.

Under
the partnership, both institutions will work together to develop and deploy
digital solutions such as Internet of Things-enabled utilities, smart security
systems, digital platforms and advanced connectivity services to enhance the
functionality and attractiveness of Special Economic Zones.
Speaking
at the signing, Orange Botswana Chief Executive Officer Nene Maiga said the
collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building smart infrastructure
capable of attracting investment, supporting enterprise growth and
strengthening Botswana’s competitiveness as an investment destination.

The
initiative forms part of broader efforts to accelerate Botswana’s digital
transformation and economic development through strategic public-private sector
collaboration.
