Commercial Bank of Ethiopia recognized by Mastercard for foreign exchange performance

The
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia has been recognized by Mastercard for its strong
performance in generating foreign exchange through digital payment services.
The
recognition follows the bank’s consistent record of bringing in millions of
dollars in foreign exchange each month using the Mastercard Payment Gateway
Services platform. The achievement highlights the growing role of digital
financial infrastructure in supporting Ethiopia’s foreign exchange inflows.
During
the engagement, a Mastercard delegation held discussions with the bank’s
President, Ato Abe Sano, and senior executives on strategic priorities, ongoing
collaborations and future initiatives.
The
talks focused on strengthening existing services and exploring new
opportunities to expand digital payment solutions, further enhancing the bank’s
contribution to Ethiopia’s financial sector and international transactions
ecosystem.
