Senior
officials of Nile Bank have paid a working visit to the Ethiopian Institute of
Artificial Intelligence to explore opportunities for collaboration in
technology development and innovation.

During
the visit, Director General Dr. Werku Gachena briefed the delegation on the
institute’s ongoing activities and strategic direction. He noted that the
institute operates under the motto “AI for All” and has been actively engaging
with various institutions to expand the adoption and impact of artificial
intelligence across sectors. He added that the institute is open to
partnerships with financial institutions such as Nile Bank to deepen innovation
and support national development.
A
representative of Nile Bank described the visit as a significant opportunity,
highlighting the strong link between the banking sector and emerging
technologies. He emphasized the importance of the institute’s work in
supporting startups, noting that such initiatives are critical to the country’s
digital and economic transformation. The bank, he said, is prepared to provide
the necessary support to advance joint initiatives, expressing optimism that
proposed projects could be implemented within a short timeframe.

Both
parties held further discussions on key areas including capacity building,
technology support, and the shared use of infrastructure to strengthen
innovation ecosystems.
As
part of the visit, the Nile Bank delegation toured key facilities within the
institute, including the AI Startup Center, robotics workshop, and product
demonstration rooms, where they observed ongoing projects and technological
developments.
