Cameroon Telecommunications has initiated discussions with international partners to strengthen connectivity across Cameroon through the integration of satellite technology into its national network infrastructure.

The state-owned operator hosted a high-level delegation led by Kyle Whitehill, Chief Executive Officer of Avanti Communications, alongside Matt Woods, during a meeting held on April 8.

The delegation was received by Judith Yah Sunday Achidi, with discussions focusing on potential areas of collaboration, particularly in the deployment of satellite-based solutions to complement existing infrastructure.

CAMTEL indicated that the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to enhance network resilience and expand access to digital services nationwide. The company aims to combine its fibre-optic backbone with satellite capabilities to address connectivity gaps, especially in remote and underserved areas.

Officials noted that while fibre infrastructure remains central to high-speed connectivity, satellite technology offers a viable solution to overcome geographical barriers and extend coverage more efficiently.

The engagement reflects CAMTEL’s ongoing efforts to leverage advanced technologies and build strategic partnerships to support inclusive digital development and improve service delivery across Cameroon.
