Quaynor, Chairman of Ghana Dot Com Limited and Professor of Computer Science at
the University of Cape Coast, has been elected Vice Chair of the World Data
Organization Council during its inaugural meeting held in China on March 30,
2026.
The
appointment was confirmed at the first meeting of the Council, marking a
significant milestone in global data governance discussions and international
cooperation on data systems and policy development.

Prof.
Quaynor’s election is being viewed as recognition of African expertise in
shaping global approaches to data governance, including how data is managed,
shared, and applied across sectors.
The

data decision-making processes, particularly in areas related to digital
transformation, standards development, and data-driven economic growth.
Stakeholders
note that the appointment strengthens the continent’s position in global
digital policy discussions and supports broader efforts to ensure that data
strategies contribute to inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable
development.
