The government of Germany has contributed to the Digital Cooperation Fund to
support international collaboration on artificial intelligence, reinforcing
efforts to strengthen global cooperation on emerging digital technologies.
The
contribution was announced at the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of
Germany to the United Nations in New York, underscoring Germany’s commitment to
advancing multilateral approaches to digital governance.
The
funding is expected to support ongoing work related to the Independent
International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence, which is preparing
for its first in-person meeting. The panel aims to provide evidence-based
assessments on the opportunities and risks associated with AI development.
The
initiative forms part of broader international efforts to enhance cooperation
on artificial intelligence policy, safety, and governance frameworks at the
global level.
Officials
involved in the process expressed appreciation for Germany’s support,
describing it as a timely contribution to strengthening international
collaboration in the digital age.
