South Africa’s Communications Minister engages new SITA leadership on digital government priorities

The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, has met with the newly appointed Managing Director of the State Information Technology Agency, Mr. Magatho Mello, to discuss strengthening collaboration in support of South Africa’s digital government agenda.

The engagement focused on the role of the State Information Technology Agency as a key entity under the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, with emphasis on improving coordination to enhance national digital capabilities.

Discussions also centred on the need to strengthen digital government systems and ensure the delivery of efficient, secure and responsive ICT services to citizens across the country.

Both parties underscored the importance of closer institutional collaboration in advancing South Africa’s broader digital transformation objectives and improving public sector service delivery through technology.

The meeting marks the beginning of renewed engagement between the ministry and SITA leadership as efforts continue to modernise government ICT infrastructure and digital service platforms.
