The
Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) has partnered with the
Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) to promote innovation and professional
development within the engineering sector, as part of efforts to strengthen
Zambia’s technological and industrial capacity.
The
collaboration was highlighted during a funding ceremony where EIZ disbursed
more than K1.1 million to 10 recipients under the EIZ Engineering Fund. The
initiative is designed to support engineers, researchers, and innovators who
require financial backing to transform ideas into practical solutions.

The
Engineering Fund was established as a strategic intervention to address the gap
between innovation and implementation, particularly for professionals with
strong technical concepts but limited access to resources. PACRA was among
several institutions that contributed to the fund, reinforcing its commitment
to fostering innovation and enterprise development.
Speaking
at the event, EIZ President Eng. Wesley Kaluba said the fund is helping to
bridge the divide between conceptual innovation and real-world application,
while encouraging continuous learning and problem-solving within the
engineering profession.

He
added that the initiative reflects EIZ’s broader commitment to investing in
projects and ideas that will enhance the engineering ecosystem and contribute
to Zambia’s national development.
The partnership between PACRA and EIZ
underscores the growing emphasis on collaborative approaches to innovation,
aimed at empowering local talent and accelerating the development of
sustainable, homegrown engineering solutions
