The Bank of Ghana has underscored the critical role of leadership in shaping how artificial intelligence influences business and society, during the GIMPA Business Students Association Alumni Lecture Series held on April 13, 2026.

Speaking at the event, Second Deputy Governor Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu emphasized that while AI continues to transform industries, the defining factor for its impact will be the quality of leadership guiding its deployment. She noted that the future of enterprise will not be determined solely by technological innovation, but by the ability to apply such innovation responsibly.

The lecture, themed “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders: The Role of Artificial Intelligence, Industry, and Business Schools for Enterprise Development,” brought together students, academics, and industry stakeholders to explore the intersection of AI, leadership, and enterprise growth.

Mrs. Asante-Asiedu called for stronger collaboration between industry and academia to ensure the ethical development and application of AI technologies. She urged businesses to move beyond efficiency-driven approaches and instead focus on building practical AI solutions that address real-world challenges.

She also encouraged business schools to prioritise the development of leaders equipped with both technological understanding and sound ethical judgment, noting that such a balance is essential for sustainable progress.

Concluding her remarks, she stressed that Ghana’s AI-driven future must be anchored in purpose, responsibility, and a clear understanding of both economic and human considerations.
