Group has hosted the newly appointed Consul General of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria to South Africa, Ambassador Ninikanwa O. Okey-Uche, at its Innovation
Centre in Johannesburg, in a move aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation
between the two countries.
The
visit highlighted MTN’s continued commitment to both South Africa and Nigeria,
where the telecommunications company maintains a significant presence as a
pan-African operator.
Officials
noted that the engagement reflects the importance of strengthening
relationships between Africa’s largest economies, particularly in advancing
digital innovation, investment, and economic collaboration.
MTN
emphasized that aligning corporate strategy with national development
priorities is key to driving sustainable growth and broader continental
progress.
The
meeting also underscored the role of private sector institutions in supporting
diplomatic and economic ties, positioning innovation and technology as central
pillars in Africa’s development trajectory.
