The
Regional African Satellite Communication Organization (RASCOM) is participating
in the 2026 NewSpace Africa Conference currently underway in Libreville, Gabon,
where key stakeholders across the global space and satellite industry have
convened to advance discussions on innovation, connectivity, and digital
transformation in Africa.

The
conference, recognised as one of the continent’s leading forums for space
policy and industry engagement, brings together decision-makers, policymakers,
investors, researchers, and industry leaders from Africa, Europe, and beyond to
shape the future of Africa’s space ecosystem.
RASCOM
is fully engaged in both the conference and exhibition segments, contributing
to high-level discussions on the role of satellite communications in
strengthening digital infrastructure, expanding connectivity, and supporting
socio-economic development across the continent.

Speaking
on the sidelines of the conference, RASCOM Director General Timothy Ashong
emphasised the organisation’s commitment to deepening collaboration within the
global space community.
“The
NewSpace Africa Conference provides a critical platform for aligning Africa’s
space ambitions with practical solutions. At RASCOM, we are committed to
strengthening partnerships, advancing capacity building, and ensuring satellite
technology continues to play a central role in Africa’s digital
transformation,” he
said.

Organisers
of the conference, including Space in Africa and the African Space Agency, have
highlighted the growing importance of satellite-enabled services in addressing
connectivity gaps and enabling data-driven development across the continent.
RASCOM’s
participation underscores its continued role in advancing regional satellite
communications infrastructure and fostering long-term international
partnerships to support Africa’s space and digital economy ambitions.
