The
Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Guinea has signed a
convention with the Orange Foundation Guinea to establish a Solidarity MediaLab
aimed at strengthening technological innovation, digital inclusion, and youth
capacity development.
The
agreement, signed on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, seeks to create a dedicated
innovation space within the Cité des Sciences et de l’Innovation of Guinea. The
initiative is designed to provide young people with access to digital
fabrication tools, creative resources, and environments for experimentation and
prototyping.

The
project, valued at 800 million Guinean francs, is expected to serve as a key
driver in the country’s broader scientific and technological transformation
agenda. It will focus on promoting hands-on learning, supporting project
development, and encouraging entrepreneurship among young innovators.
According
to officials, the MediaLab will contribute to improving youth employability by
equipping participants with practical skills aligned with emerging digital and
technological sectors. It is also expected to foster innovation-led
entrepreneurship and support the development of scalable solutions by young
creators.
The
initiative is aligned with Guinea’s national development framework under the
Simandou 2040 programme, which places strong emphasis on human capital
development, digital transformation, and professional integration.

Authorities
say the partnership reflects a shared commitment between the Ministry and the
Orange Foundation Guinea to advance inclusive and sustainable innovation. It is
also intended to strengthen collaboration between the public sector and
development partners in building a more dynamic innovation ecosystem for the
country’s youth.
The
Ministry described the signing as a significant institutional milestone that
reinforces ongoing efforts to position science, technology, and innovation as
central pillars of national development in Guinea.
