Africa Startup Review has named Satlyt among the 30 most innovative early-stage
companies on its YASR30 2026 list, recognising startups driving transformative
solutions across the African continent.
The
annual YASR30 list highlights emerging ventures demonstrating strong potential
for impact and scalability across key sectors, including technology,
infrastructure, and digital innovation.
Satlyt,
a space infrastructure company founded by Rama Afullo, is developing a
software-based platform designed to transform satellites into virtual
artificial intelligence data centres. The platform leverages in-orbit computing
and inter-satellite connectivity to reduce latency, lower operational costs,
and enhance global data access.

The
company’s approach is aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps in emerging
markets while contributing to the growth of the global space economy. By
enabling distributed data processing in space, Satlyt seeks to support more
efficient and accessible digital services across regions with limited
terrestrial infrastructure.
The
recognition underscores growing investor and industry interest in space-enabled
technologies and Africa’s expanding role in next-generation digital
infrastructure development.
