Nigeria’s
Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund to enhance digital
connectivity across police stations nationwide.
The agreement was signed with the Executive Secretary
of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, alongside members of the
board, as part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement capabilities through
technology.

The initiative, known as Project BRIDGE, aims to
connect police stations to Nigeria’s national fibre backbone, enabling improved
data-sharing and communication across the force. The project is also expected
to support the deployment of advanced digital tools, including artificial
intelligence-driven systems for incident response, case management, and
predictive analytics.
Speaking on the development, Tijani
noted that improving connectivity within the police service is essential to
building a more effective and responsive security infrastructure. He emphasized
that the broader digital transformation agenda must extend to all public
institutions, including those responsible for maintaining safety and security.

The collaboration is expected to
enhance operational efficiency within the police service while supporting
data-driven decision-making and modern policing methods.
The move
forms part of Nigeria’s wider push to integrate digital infrastructure into
critical sectors, reinforcing the role of technology in improving public
service delivery and national security.
