The
Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia
(CRAN) and the Namibia Statistics Agency
(NSA) have signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing
institutional collaboration and improving data-driven decision-making in
Namibia.

The agreement is expected to formalise structured data
sharing between the two institutions while strengthening the quality and
accessibility of statistical information. Officials from both organisations
indicated that the partnership will play a critical role in aligning regulatory
insights with national data systems.
Under the revised framework, CRAN will contribute its
expertise in the ICT regulatory space, while NSA will leverage its capabilities
in national statistics, spatial data analysis and Geographic Information
Systems. The collaboration is designed to support more comprehensive economic
analysis and enable evidence-based policy planning.

Stakeholders say the partnership will
also deepen understanding of Namibia’s digital and socio-economic landscape by
integrating sector-specific regulatory data with broader national datasets. The
initiative is expected to improve the accuracy of insights used in shaping
policies that impact the country’s digital transformation and economic
development.
The
signing of the revised MoU reflects ongoing efforts by both institutions to
strengthen cooperation and enhance the role of data in supporting national
development priorities.
