HONOR, in partnership with the Association of Comms and Technology (ACT), has
commemorated its second annual International Girls in ICT Day with an
initiative aimed at empowering young women through digital skills development.
Held under the theme “AI for Development - Girls
Shaping the Digital Future,” the programme brought together young participants
and industry stakeholders to explore opportunities in artificial intelligence
and emerging technologies. The event provided a platform for engagement with
experts, while equipping participants with practical knowledge relevant to the
evolving digital economy.

Organisers said the initiative
reflects a broader commitment to addressing gender disparities in the ICT
sector through collaboration and sustained investment in youth development.
They noted that building an inclusive and future-ready digital ecosystem requires
targeted efforts to create opportunities for young women to participate
meaningfully in technology-driven industries.
The event was attended by key
stakeholders including Fred Zhou, Solly Malatsi, Sanum
Singh and Nomvuyiso Batyi,
alongside other representatives from government and the private sector.

Participants engaged in discussions
and learning sessions designed to strengthen their understanding of artificial
intelligence and its role in driving development across industries. Organisers
expressed appreciation to the young attendees and partners, noting that such
initiatives are essential to fostering innovation and expanding access to
opportunities within the ICT landscape.
The
programme forms part of ongoing efforts by HONOR and ACT to support inclusive
digital transformation and nurture the next generation of technology leaders.
