Morocco’s Minister Delegate
for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni,
has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to building a modern, competitive and
inclusive digital economy, highlighting the transformative role of artificial
intelligence in reshaping financial services and payment systems.
Speaking at the opening of
the third edition of Visa Fintech Day in Rabat, the minister addressed
participants gathered under the theme “Reshaping Payments in the Era of AI.”
The event brought together stakeholders from the financial, technology and
institutional sectors to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on payment
services and financial innovation.
Seghrouchni said Morocco’s
digital transformation agenda, guided by the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy and
the “AI Made in Morocco” vision, places artificial intelligence, sovereign
digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and data valorisation at the centre of
national development efforts.
She noted that AI is playing
an increasingly important role in fraud detection, risk assessment, automation
of financial processes and improving customer experiences across the financial
sector.
The minister also stressed
the importance of creating a trusted digital environment supported by strong
data protection measures, resilient digital infrastructure and transparent AI
systems.
During the event,
participants examined emerging trends in financial technology and the evolving
payments landscape, with discussions focusing on how AI can drive innovation
while maintaining security and consumer trust.
Seghrouchni welcomed the
presentation of a White Paper on the evolution of fintechs in Morocco,
describing it as an important contribution toward strengthening the sector and
accelerating the development of an innovative, secure and value-creating financial
ecosystem.
