MTN Nigeria has convened a stakeholder engagement forum dubbed “Data on Trial” to examine issues surrounding data consumption and billing transparency through an open and fact-based discussion involving customer advocates, regulators, independent auditors, and other industry stakeholders.

The forum was designed as a platform for transparent dialogue on concerns related to data depletion, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to review MTN’s processes, raise questions, and receive clarifications supported by data, figures, and expert insights.

The session featured robust exchanges between participants, with discussions focusing on how data usage is measured, billed, and communicated to customers. Independent auditors and regulatory representatives were present to provide additional oversight and contribute to the scrutiny of operational processes.

MTN Nigeria Chief Executive Officer Karl Toriola reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fairness and transparency in its service delivery, stating that the telecom operator does not deliberately shortchange customers on data consumption.

He emphasized that trust remains central to MTN’s relationship with its customers and said the company is committed to maintaining accountability through continued engagement and openness.

The telecommunications firm said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to strengthen customer confidence and address public concerns through direct engagement and transparent communication.

MTN added that insights from the session will help inform future improvements in customer experience and data service management.
