Namibia’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has visited Angola’s newly inaugurated National Data Centre and Cloud infrastructure in Camama, Luanda, as part of ongoing regional engagement at ANGOTIC 2026.

The visit, formed part of a broader learning and exchange programme involving the Namibian delegation attending the regional technology forum.

Minister Theofelus and her delegation were received by the Director General of the Instituto Nacional de Fomento da Sociedade de Informação (INFOSI), Mr. André Mpumba Pedro, who led a guided tour of the facility and provided an overview of its infrastructure and operational systems.

Following the tour, INFOSI Consultant Mr. Fernando Vicente engaged the delegation in a technical briefing, offering additional insights into the data centre’s operations and responding to questions on its service delivery capabilities and architecture.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the level of technological advancement demonstrated by the facility, noting the importance of robust digital infrastructure in supporting national digital transformation strategies.

She further highlighted that Namibia is actively advancing plans to develop its own national data centre, underscoring the relevance of Angola’s experience as a reference point for infrastructure development.

The Camama Data Centre is part of Angola’s broader digital transformation agenda and is integrated into a high-speed fibre-optic network that connects key government institutions, enhancing digital service delivery and data management capacity.

Officials indicated that the facility is intended to strengthen national digital resilience and support the expansion of cloud-based government services.

The visit reflects growing regional cooperation in digital infrastructure development across Southern Africa, as governments accelerate investments in data-driven economies.
