The South
African National Space Agency (SANSA) will on 3 July 2026 officially launch a
suite of Earth Observation Decision Support Tools (DST) designed to provide
evidence-based intelligence for planning and governance across the country.
The hybrid
event, to be held at the Protea Fire and Ice hotel in Pretoria Menlyn from
08:00 to 13:00, will showcase three thematic tools: a Water Monitoring Tool, an
Air Quality Monitoring Tool, and a Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Tool
focused on floods.
According to
SANSA, the solutions are intended to address critical planning needs by
delivering timely, data-driven insights aimed at improving governance and
building resilience. The tools represent an expansion of the agency’s
analytical capabilities in the Earth Observation domain.
Invited
participants include government partners, researchers, and stakeholders in
environmental management and disaster response. Attendees have the option to
join in person or virtually, though the meeting link will be shared only with
those who confirm their attendance.
SANSA has
requested that delegates confirm their participation via the provided RSVP link
before 29 June 2026. Travel and accommodation expenses will be the
responsibility of attendees.
The agency said
it looks forward to strengthening partnerships and exploring collaboration
opportunities in support of sustainable development through the new tools.
Further details on the Decision Support Tools are available on SANSA’s website.
