The Gabonese Agency for Space Studies and Observations (AGEOS) has participated in a high-level strategic meeting with the African Space Agency, the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), and the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) on the sidelines of the ANGOTIC 2026 conference in Luanda, Angola, on 12 June 2026.

The meeting marked an important step in consolidating African space cooperation and implementing the vision carried out by the African Space Agency. Discussions focused on mechanisms for the development of continental space activities, with particular emphasis on the active and coordinated participation of all African national space agencies.

In a context where space technologies play a decisive role in environmental monitoring, natural resource management, climate change mitigation, security, precision agriculture, and land use planning, Africa is gradually affirming its desire to build an integrated, innovative, and sovereign space ecosystem, according to AGEOS.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the recognition afforded to AGEOS as the only space agency in Central Africa and a player recognised for its expertise in Earth observation technologies. AGEOS has been associated with this small circle of strategic space institutions on the continent, a testament to the agency's work in recent years to promote innovation, skills development, and the use of satellite data for sustainable development.

The participation also illustrates Gabon's rising profile in the African space sector. Through AGEOS, the country is actively contributing to the construction of more inclusive continental spatial governance oriented towards Africa's development challenges.
