Namibia's
Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has commenced the
formulation of a new strategic plan for the Nationhood and National Pride (NNP)
Programme, bringing together stakeholders from across government and state
institutions to strengthen collaboration on national development initiatives.
The Strategic
Plan Formulation Workshop opened on August 3, 2026, at the Namibia Institute of
Public Administration and Management (NIPAM), with participants drawn from
various government offices, ministries, agencies and state-owned enterprises.
The workshop is
reviewing the implementation of the outgoing Nationhood and National Pride
Programme while laying the foundation for a new five-year strategy aimed at
promoting national unity, civic responsibility and inclusive development.
Presenting the
programme review findings, Dr. Felix Mukasa of NIPAM emphasized the importance
of strengthening stakeholder participation through formal partnerships
involving civil society organizations, traditional leaders, youth groups, the
private sector and the broader public.
He urged
participants to take collective ownership of both the programme and the new
strategic plan to ensure its successful implementation and long-term impact.
Delivering the
keynote address on behalf of the Minister of Information and Communication
Technology, Emma Theofelus, Executive Director Linda Nakale said the workshop
provides an opportunity to deepen cooperation across national programmes that
support investment promotion, destination marketing, volunteerism, crime
prevention and nation branding.
Nakale said the
strategic planning process is expected to produce an integrated five-year
framework with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for all institutions
involved in advancing nation-building initiatives.
She reaffirmed
the government's commitment to building an inclusive society where every
citizen understands and contributes to national development.
Nakale also
called on regional offices, the Ministry of Education and parents to play a
greater role in fostering national pride and promoting the values of "One
Namibia, One Nation" from an early age.
