Gabon's
government is advancing its digital transformation agenda with the proposed
deployment of administration.ga,
a locally developed platform designed to modernize public administration and
accelerate the digitization of government services.
The
initiative was presented to Vice President of the Government Hermann Immongault
during a meeting with Stéphane Nzeng, Director of the Gabon Innovation Center
(CGI), on August 3.
Developed
through a collaboration between the Gabon Innovation Center and local
technology startup Zaghi Digital, the platform is intended to simplify,
modernize and fully digitize public sector operations while providing
government institutions with a unified digital workspace.
According
to government officials, administration.ga
will offer integrated communication, organization and collaboration tools
that enable direct interaction among public sector employees while supporting
the digital management of administrative processes.
A
key feature of the project is its emphasis on digital sovereignty, with the
platform being designed and developed by Gabonese technology professionals to
meet the specific operational requirements of the country's ministries and
public institutions.
Officials
said the solution will be customized to align with the unique workflows and
administrative procedures of individual government departments, supporting a
more efficient and responsive public service.
The
project forms part of the government's broader digital transformation strategy
under the leadership of President General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, which
seeks to modernize public administration through increased adoption of locally
developed digital technologies.
Beyond
improving government service delivery, the initiative is also expected to
strengthen Gabon's digital economy by promoting local software development,
supporting the growth of domestic technology startups and expanding
opportunities for young professionals in the digital sector.
The
government believes that encouraging local ownership of digital platforms and
software development will contribute to job creation and stimulate innovation
within Gabon's technology ecosystem.
Officials
also linked the initiative to broader employment ambitions aligned with
international digital development goals, including efforts to create thousands
of technology-related jobs through investments in digital innovation and
entrepreneurship.
The
proposed administration.ga
platform represents another step in Gabon's efforts to build a digitally
enabled public sector while reinforcing national capabilities in software
development and digital governance.
