Olugbenga Agboola has been appointed a National Youth Ambassador of the Nigeria
Police Force under the National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment
Initiative.
Agboola announced the
appointment after a meeting with Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, describing the recognition as an opportunity to support young people and strengthen their participation
in national development.
He said his experience
building financial infrastructure across Africa has reinforced his belief that
the continent’s young people possess strong talent and ambition but often lack
access to the structures needed to turn their ideas into sustainable institutions.
According to Agboola, young
entrepreneurs require access to appropriate tools, networks and support systems
to enable them to develop and scale their businesses.
He said closing this gap
will require closer collaboration between public institutions, private-sector
organisations and the technology ecosystem.
Agboola said he is committed
to using his experience and platform to support initiatives that provide young
Nigerians with the security, networks and opportunities needed to develop their
ideas, build businesses and contribute to national development.
The appointment under the
Nigeria Police Force’s National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment
Initiative places Agboola among stakeholders expected to contribute to efforts
focused on youth empowerment, security and peacebuilding.
Agboola said the initiative
provides an opportunity to strengthen the structures around young people and
help create an environment in which Nigeria’s youth can scale their
contribution to the country’s economic and social development.
