The Kenya AI Accelerator has
reached a key milestone by completing its Final Business Assessment
Calibration Workshop, which reviewed leading artificial intelligence
innovations focused on public service delivery and GreenTech.
The workshop brought
together partners supporting the identification of AI solutions with strong
potential to deliver societal and economic impact in Kenya.
The initiative received
support from the Association of Startup and SME Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK), iHub
Nairobi, Sote Hub and the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA), which
contributed to the process of identifying and assessing promising solutions.
The next stage will involve
technical assessments with Pathways Technologies, focusing on data readiness,
security and responsible artificial intelligence.
The technical assessment
will determine what can be built and scaled from the solutions that have
progressed through the business assessment process.
The Kenya AI Accelerator is
being led by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital
Economy, the Technopolis Development Authority, formerly known as the Konza
Technopolis Development Authority, and the United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP) Kenya.
The programme is aimed at
moving promising AI ideas beyond business cases towards practical solutions
capable of addressing real-world challenges and generating measurable societal
and economic impact.
With the business case
assessment completed, the programme will now turn its attention to the
technical readiness of the selected innovations, including whether the
necessary data, security measures and responsible AI practices are in place to
support their development and potential scale-up.
