MTN Uganda has highlighted significant progress in its Advancing Women Entrepreneurship (AWE) programme, as part of its broader Ambition 2030 strategy aimed at driving inclusive economic growth and shared value creation.

Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge noted that the initiative, launched three years ago, was designed to increase the participation of women-owned businesses within MTN Uganda’s supply chain and the wider economy.

According to the company, the programme has so far unlocked UGX 18 billion in contracts for women entrepreneurs, while participation of women suppliers has grown from 0.3% to 15%.

Mulinge described the progress as a reflection of MTN Uganda’s commitment to inclusion and sustainable development, emphasizing that empowering women entrepreneurs has positive ripple effects on households, communities, and national economic growth.

She further indicated that the next phase of the programme, branded AWE 2.0, will focus on scaling women-led businesses, improving their investment readiness, and positioning them for long-term success in an increasingly digital economy.

MTN Uganda reaffirmed that inclusion remains central to its business strategy, particularly in strengthening local ecosystems and delivering sustainable growth through shared value initiatives.
