Sierra
Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, has called for inclusive and ethical
approaches to artificial intelligence during her participation in the Fostering
the Future Together Global Coalition Summit held at the White House.
The
summit, initiated by Melania Trump, brought together leaders from over 40
countries alongside global technology stakeholders to discuss the future of
artificial intelligence and its societal impact.

Speaking
as one of eight selected global contributors, Dr. Bio highlighted both the
opportunities and challenges presented by the rapid advancement of AI
technologies. She emphasized the importance of developing people-centered
systems that ensure equitable access and protect vulnerable groups,
particularly women and young people across Africa.
In
her dual role as First Lady of Sierra Leone and President of the Organisation
of African First Ladies for Development, she stressed the need for collective
global action to ensure that innovation supports education, empowers youth, and
strengthens communities.

The
summit underscored the growing importance of international cooperation in
shaping policies and frameworks that guide the responsible use of emerging
technologies.
Dr.
Bio urged stakeholders to harness artificial intelligence not only to drive
progress but also to uphold societal values, protect communities, and inspire
future generations.
