A
conference examining the role of artificial intelligence in advancing medical
education, healthcare delivery, and research is currently underway in Ethiopia.
The
62nd annual medical conference, organized by the Ethiopian Medical Association
in collaboration with the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute and
partner institutions, is being held at the Hilton Addis Ababa, bringing
together government officials, healthcare professionals, and technology
experts.

During
the event, EAII Deputy Director General Taye Girma presented a research paper
highlighting the potential of integrating artificial intelligence with existing
medical knowledge to improve knowledge transfer, address sector challenges, and
modernize healthcare systems. He emphasized that the adoption of AI in
healthcare is becoming essential for global competitiveness.
State
Minister of Health Saharela Abdullahi noted that the Ministry is working
closely with the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute to expand
AI-driven healthcare solutions nationwide.

The
conference is focused on identifying practical pathways for implementing AI in
healthcare, with participants exploring its transformative potential across
clinical services, education, and research. Various AI-powered health solutions
are also being showcased during the two-day event.
