Rwanda’s
Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, has officially opened the
Gicumbi Investors Forum, bringing together investors and key stakeholders to
explore investment opportunities in the district.
The
forum highlighted Gicumbi’s growing economic potential, supported by
significant improvements in infrastructure and public services. Officials
reported that electricity coverage in the district has reached 81 percent of
households, while access to clean water stands at 93.9 percent.
Authorities
also noted that each sector in the district now hosts a Technical and
Vocational Education and Training (TVET) school, aimed at strengthening skills
development and workforce readiness.

In
addition, Gicumbi has developed key industrial and social infrastructure,
including four maize processing plants, seven coffee factories, 24 health
centers, and 77 health posts.
The
district’s road network, particularly the Base-Rukomo road, was cited as a
critical enabler for investment, improving connectivity and supporting economic
activity.
Officials
say the progress positions Gicumbi as an attractive destination for sustainable
investment, with government and partners committed to further enhancing its
business environment.
