Zimbabwe’s
Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera, has
congratulated Sifundo Moyo on his unopposed re-election as Secretary General of
the Pan African Postal Union, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of
his leadership and vision for Africa’s postal sector.

Mavetera
also commended Hope Jessica Ssengooba of Uganda on her re-election as Assistant
Secretary General following a competitive process, noting her continued
contribution to the Union’s growth.
The
remarks were made following Zimbabwe’s participation in the 11th Ordinary
Plenipotentiary Conference of PAPU held in Kampala, Uganda, where Mavetera led
the country’s delegation. The conference brought together member states to
deliberate on the future of postal services and sector transformation across
the continent.
Zimbabwe
formally concluded its tenure as Chairperson of the Plenipotentiary Conference
during the meeting, handing over leadership to host nation Uganda.

Mavetera
expressed appreciation for the support Zimbabwe received from member states,
particularly in relation to Moyo’s re-election and the country’s broader
engagements within the International Telecommunication Union development
sector.
She
said Zimbabwe remains committed to advancing its responsibilities with humility
and dedication, while contributing to the continued development and
modernization of Africa’s postal ecosystem.
