The
Office of the Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs has reaffirmed the
United States’ commitment to strengthening international collaboration on
critical and emerging technologies following high-level engagements with
partners from South Korea and Sweden.
During
the meeting, Under Secretary Helberg held discussions with counterparts from
both countries on advancing a shared agenda focused on innovation, security,
and economic competitiveness. The talks highlighted the growing importance of
technologies such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and secure
digital infrastructure in shaping global dynamics.

Key
areas of cooperation included joint efforts on quantum technologies through
initiatives such as the Quantum Development Group, as well as expanded
collaboration under programmes like Pax Silica. The discussions also addressed
the need to promote open, secure, and resilient digital and cloud
infrastructure systems.
Participants
further explored strategies to strengthen supply chains critical to emerging
technologies, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence systems,
critical minerals, and space-related capabilities.
The
United States emphasized its commitment to working closely with trusted allies
and partners to ensure that the development and deployment of emerging
technologies contribute to shared security interests and sustainable economic
growth.
