Kenya’s
Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, John
Kipchumba Tanui, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening
global cybersecurity collaboration during engagements at the InCyber Forum 2026
in Lille, France.
On
the sidelines of the forum, Tanui held discussions with Vincent Riou, focusing
on opportunities to deepen partnerships and explore the development of a
continental cybersecurity platform to enhance Africa’s digital resilience.
The
InCyber Forum, organized by Forum INCYBER, has grown significantly since its
inception in 2007, evolving from a small gathering of 200 delegates into a
major global platform that convenes policymakers, industry leaders, and
cybersecurity experts to address issues of digital trust and security.

Tanui
noted that the forum provided an opportunity for Kenya to showcase its progress
and ambitions in the digital economy while engaging with global stakeholders on
emerging cybersecurity trends and challenges.
He
emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing
cybersecurity threats, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to build
resilient digital ecosystems across Africa.
The
engagement was supported by partners including the European Commission and
Expertise France, reflecting ongoing collaboration between Kenya and European
institutions.
The
discussions come at a time when Kenya is marking 50 years of partnership with
the European Union and ahead of the upcoming France–Africa Summit scheduled to
take place in Nairobi, signaling growing momentum in strengthening digital and
economic ties.
Kenya
continues to position itself as a key player in advancing cybersecurity,
digital innovation, and regional cooperation within Africa’s evolving digital
landscape.
