Vodacom
has confirmed a R12.8 billion co-investment into Maziv, one of South Africa’s
largest fibre infrastructure companies, during the 6th South Africa Investment
Conference (SAIC). Vodacom holds a 30% stake in Maziv, a subsidiary of
Community Investment Ventures Holdings, which also owns Vumatel and Dark Fibre
Africa.

The
investment is aimed at expanding fibre infrastructure, particularly in
underserved areas, to enable broader participation in South Africa’s growing
digital economy and to harness the economic benefits of increased broadband
connectivity.
This
new funding is in addition to Vodacom’s R60 billion network investment pledged
at the 5th SAIC in 2023.

Vodacom
highlighted its role as a main sponsor of the conference and reiterated its
commitment to supporting the nation’s digital transformation. The company also
congratulated President Cyril Ramaphosa on meeting his national infrastructure
targets and emphasized that improved connectivity will create economic and
social opportunities for South Africans, reinforcing the country’s journey
further together in the digital era.
