The
Information Network Security Administration (INSA) has convened a consultative
forum with leaders and experts from various bureaus of the Oromia Regional
State to strengthen cyber resilience and promote the implementation of robust
cybersecurity frameworks.
The
session focused on the adoption of cybersecurity standards, the importance of
readiness assessments, and raising overall cyber awareness across regional
institutions. Eng. Jima Tulu, Deputy Head of the Oromia Science and Technology
Authority, opened the forum by stressing that cybersecurity is a shared
responsibility requiring close collaboration with INSA.
Participants
discussed the critical role of cyber governance in protecting institutional
operations and national sovereignty. They highlighted the strategic importance
of understanding global cyber threats and emerging technologies to equip
leadership with the capacity to defend their institutions proactively.
The
forum also emphasized the need for regular Cybersecurity Readiness Assessments
to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen institutional preparedness, ensuring
that regional bodies remain resilient in an increasingly complex digital
environment.
