Numérique S.A. is hosting a strategic workshop of the West African Network of
National Backbones (ROA-BN/WANB) in Dakar from April 9 to 10, 2026, bringing
together representatives from nine countries to advance regional digital
connectivity.
Participating
countries include Gambia, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Mali,
Niger, Sierra Leone, and Senegal.

The
workshop aims to enhance cooperation among national backbone operators to build
more efficient, accessible, and integrated connectivity infrastructure across
the region. Stakeholders are working toward a shared target of reaching 80
percent of the population with improved connectivity by 2033.
The
event has brought together senior executives, including general managers,
technical directors, and commercial leads from organizations responsible for
deploying and managing fiber optic networks in their respective countries.

Officials
noted that the initiative represents a concrete step toward building a
sovereign and inclusive African digital market, aligned with the African Union
Agenda 2063 framework for long-term development.
