Togo
has introduced a centralized infrastructure mapping system aimed at improving
project planning, reducing service disruptions, and strengthening national
digital governance.
The
initiative, led by the Ministry of Public Sector Efficiency and Digital
Transformation under Minister Cina Lawson in collaboration with the Togo
Digital Agency, addresses longstanding challenges caused by the absence of
coordinated infrastructure data across sectors.

The
newly launched Infrastructure Mapping Single Window, unveiled on April 2, 2026,
enables stakeholders to access detailed information on existing networks before
commencing construction projects. This includes underground systems such as
electricity, water, telecommunications, and gas infrastructure, which have
historically been at risk of accidental damage during development works.
The
system is built on three core components: a national online platform that
centralizes infrastructure data, a mobile application capable of locating
networks on-site with high precision, and a nationwide network of geographic
correction stations designed to ensure data accuracy and continuous updates.
Authorities
say the platform is already delivering measurable benefits, including reduced
outages in essential services, improved coordination of construction
activities, and enhanced protection of public and private investments.

The
initiative also supports more efficient territorial governance by enabling
better planning and decision-making, positioning Togo to manage infrastructure
development with greater precision and accountability.
Officials
described the system as a critical step toward building a more resilient and
digitally enabled economy, where development can proceed without compromising
existing infrastructure.
