Airtel
Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to customer-centric innovation and
sustained investment in network infrastructure during a media engagement held
at the Serena Hotel in Kampala.
The
session brought together business journalists and senior executives, including
Airtel Africa Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sunil Taldar
and Airtel Uganda Managing Director and CEO Soumendra Sahu, to discuss the
company’s performance, strategic direction, and the role of technology in
enhancing customer experience.

Addressing
participants, Taldar emphasized that Airtel’s operations across Africa are
anchored on a customer-first philosophy, noting that the company continues to
prioritize value creation for customers, shareholders, and society.
The
company reported strong financial performance for the year ended December 2025,
with Airtel Uganda’s revenue increasing by 13.3 percent to UGX 2,250 billion.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA)
margins reached 54.9 percent, while the full-year dividend rose by 41.6 percent
to UGX 11.15 per share.
Executives
also highlighted the deployment of artificial intelligence-driven solutions to
combat online fraud and spam. According to Taldar, the introduction of these
technologies has led to a significant reduction in scam-related messages in
Uganda.

Discussions
further covered Airtel’s infrastructure partnerships, including collaboration
with SpaceX, as well as initiatives led by the Airtel Africa Foundation in
advancing digital inclusion, financial inclusion, and education across its
markets.
Sahu
underscored Uganda’s strategic importance within Airtel’s African operations,
noting that the country often serves as a launchpad for new innovations on the
continent.
The
engagement forms part of Airtel Uganda’s broader efforts to maintain dialogue
with the media and stakeholders, as the company continues to expand its
footprint and strengthen service delivery in the region.
