The
Global Digital Inclusion Partnership (GDIP) has supported the delivery of a
digital literacy and skills training programme for women in Pakistan, aimed at
expanding access to digital opportunities and reducing the gender digital
divide.
The
second cohort of the training was held at a Digital Community Center in
Jhuggiwala, bringing together more than 100 participants, including students,
graduates, and homemakers. The programme focused on building practical
competencies in digital literacy, online safety, digital finance, and
e-commerce.

Implemented
under the Digital Empowerment of Women through Community-Centered Connectivity
initiative, the training is being delivered in partnership with organizations
including the Internet Society and the Universal Service Fund Pakistan,
alongside Nayatel and DEMO | Ideas for Impact.
Organisers
said the initiative is designed to ensure that access to connectivity
translates into meaningful participation in the digital economy. The Digital
Community Center provides a dedicated space where women can access devices,
internet connectivity, and hands-on training to develop income-generating and
entrepreneurial skills.

The
programme forms part of broader efforts to empower women through digital
inclusion, with stakeholders highlighting the importance of combining
infrastructure with skills development to unlock economic opportunities and
support sustainable community development.
