The
second edition of the International Exhibition of Artificial Intelligence,
Defense and Space (SIADE 2026) has opened in Côte d’Ivoire, bringing together
government officials, industry leaders and academic institutions to advance
Africa’s technological ambitions.
Held
under the high patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Téné
Birahima Ouattara, represented by Minister of Security General Vagondo
Diomandé, the event is themed “What strategy for sovereignty in Africa by
2030?” and underscores the continent’s growing focus on innovation and
self-reliance in critical technology sectors.

The
opening ceremony featured an immersive audiovisual presentation created
entirely using artificial intelligence technologies, reflecting the convergence
of nations around global technological challenges and the increasing role of AI
in shaping future industries.
Over
the course of two days, the exhibition is hosting panel discussions,
demonstrations and strategic engagements aimed at strengthening Africa’s
position in emerging technologies. A key highlight has been the signing of
major agreements, including a partnership with the University of Montpellier to
support the launch of a nanosatellite project led by SAH Analytics
International, the event’s organizing body. Another agreement was signed with
Péléforo Gon Coulibaly University to enhance collaboration in advanced
technology training and education.
These
public-private partnership initiatives are expected to bolster capacity
development and support the growth of a competitive African technology
ecosystem with stronger global linkages.

SIADE
2026 has also featured live demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies,
offering participants a glimpse into innovations across artificial
intelligence, defense systems and space applications.
Organisers
say the exhibition represents a significant step in aligning policy, investment
and expertise to accelerate Africa’s technological sovereignty and long-term
development goals.
