Rwanda
highlighted its growing role as a hub for frontier technology innovation during
discussions at VivaTech 2026, where government officials, technology leaders,
and innovators explored how emerging technologies can move from pilot projects
to large-scale impact.
Representing
Rwanda at the event, the Minister of State for ICT and Innovation, Yves
Iradukunda joined industry leaders and innovators who have used Rwanda as a
testing ground for developing, refining, and scaling technology-driven
solutions.
The
discussions focused on Rwanda’s approach to creating an enabling environment
for innovation, allowing companies and entrepreneurs to pilot new technologies
and accelerate their adoption in real-world settings.
Participants
highlighted the country’s efforts to support frontier technologies through
progressive policies, digital infrastructure investments, and collaboration
between government, academia, and the private sector.
The
session examined how emerging technologies can generate measurable social and
economic impact when supported by effective regulatory frameworks and
innovation-friendly ecosystems.
Rwanda’s
participation at VivaTech 2026 forms part of broader efforts to position the
country as a leading technology and innovation destination in Africa. The
government has increasingly emphasized the role of digital transformation,
entrepreneurship, and advanced technologies in driving economic growth and
improving public service delivery.
